Engineering Design

Create technical design that meets functional needs as well as manufacturing cost and quality requirements

  • Crystalize product concept

  • Mock-up design options

  • Model design in 3D CAD

  • Evaluate mechanical design risks

Prototyping

Build a physical representation of your idea for functionality testing, user feedback, and fundraising

  • Proof of concept (POC) prototype to test hypothesis and product concept

  • Minimum viable product (MVP) prototype to test functionality and user experience

  • Beta prototype to confirm quality and finalize functionality prior to volume manufacturing

Manufacturing

Transition to volume manufacturing with supplier and manufacturing partner selection and setup

  • Select custom and off-the-shelve components and suppliers

  • Establish high level key item cost estimates

  • Identify suitable manufacturing partners

  • Provide knowledge transfer and set-up support

What type of prototype do I need?

Hypothesis testing

If the viability of your product depends upon some critical variables, use simulation and proof of concept (POC) prototyping to clarify product vision will save you time and resources. Early stage engineering and user testing of your design concepts can flag major design, function, and cost issues. Catching those early will help get to market faster with fewer undesirable surprises.

Product & market assessment

Building a Minimum Viable Product (MVP) prototype is critical to test and refine a physical product idea. The hardware MVP prototypes can range from basic versions intended for quick turnaround and early functionality testing, to production-ready quality versions for marketing.

Volume production readiness

Beta prototypes are the near-final design to your product that looks and feels like the final products using intended volume manufacturing process.  This is the last stage in the product design process to make final adjustments, and the prototypes are often used for stakeholders and regulators to assess the quality and functionality of the product for market launch.
